My nails are pretty perfect - long, strong and healthy but I recently broke two of the longest because I forgot to keep filling/trimming them so they got too long and broke when I caught a basketball someone tossed me.
It will take months for them to grow back to their normal size, so I was thinking of getting acrylics put on them, or maybe extensions? Do nail salons even do that? I don't want to trim all my other nails and get a full set put on...I could buy a full pack and just use two - but my nails are very narrow and not curved at all, and all fake nails I've ever seen have been weirdly rounded - and are too wide anyway...
So back to extensions - would a nail salon let me only get two? And would they match my natural nail shapes? (And I always wear opaque polish so color isn't a problem)I broke two of my natural nails - can I get acrylics or extensions put on just 2 nails?
yea they will do it on just two nails and they will match it with the shape of the other nails but id just suggest to grow them back acrylics are so bad for your nails to put them on the nail tec grinds them down to nothing and sometimes it can damage your nail beds id sugest just wait and take more care of thm

I don't see why they wouldn't... although real vs. acrylic is extremely obvious and would look bad, unless they could somehow make it match the rest of your nails. I'm not a nail technician by any means, but... it'd be worth a shot to go in and just say to them that your two nails broke and if they could make those two look like the rest of your hand, then you'd be eternally grateful.
Yes you can have just two nails put on at a salon just tell them to file the sides of the fake nail to make those two nails look just like your other nails,also I would get jell before I would acrylics Why? Jell looks so natural.

Turbo-charging in the national/international economy. Thinking of it like this should make people feel like resisting it all. Maybe they have gone past hope.Why are so many women becomin clones..ie long blonde hair extensions..fake tans and false nails?
No peace in the west (or the western way). But nowhere else is more attractive it seems.

I find this is true only in certain social areas and strata. Perhaps if these are the only types of women you meet it's time to find a different scene to socialize on? May I suggest nature-lovers, food and wine enthusiasts, professionals... Basically, anyone with an interest outside of themselves.
I've noticed this too - it's a shame, isn't it? Come on girls, be individuals! don't just copy a few sad celebs!
i have semi-long blonde hair, and long nails, but because I have exremly fair skin i dont tan. i just burn and go back 2 my normal color, so that mite be why, the fack tans.

There are lots of reasons; low self esteem, vanity, and the media has brainwashed so many people into thinking they have to look a certain way to be attractive. It is, in my opinion a huge marketing scam. Weight loss, dieting, plastic surgery, hair color, makeup, etc... Everytime you turn on the TV and even the radio, one of these companies has a commercial about improving yourself. They attempt to make people feel lousy about themselves and in return these people go and spend their hard earned money making these companies billions of dollars. Its a mass marketing scam that unfortunately, works.
Society tells them that that is the way they are supposed to be. Television and mass media as pervaded our lives and we now believe whatever MTV, E!, Bravo and whatever other television or internet outlet or beauty magazine tells us is true. So, therefore, you get this unilateral belief by Americans of what beauty is... Doesn't Jessica Simpson look good? To hell with intelligence... SHE LOOKS GOOD. Who needs a Stanford education when you got a dress on made by Gucci. Even though they probably cost about the same now.

Acrylic nails are like what you see footballer's wives type people wearing.
You can have them as long or short as you like and shaped and coloured like you would your own nails.
They glue a false nail onto your own nail, from the tip, so its just an extension. Then the rest of your nail is filled in with acrylic (powder and liquid). It takes a few minutes to set hard, then it is all shaped, cut and painted and the whole process should take about an hour.
You will need to have the nails filled in every 2 weeks as they grow out so maintenance is quite costly.
I have had my nails done for years and the most it has ever cost me is 拢38!
Look in your yellow pages under 'nail salons' and phone round asking for a quote for 'acrylics, new nails'. The other option is to look in shop windows for adverts from students or people who do it from home as you will probably get it cheaper.
The only catch is if you bite your nails down really short so you've not got enough nail to glue the tip to. Having said that, a good nail technician will still be able to work some magic.

Well no way should you be paying 拢60, that sounds like a rip off to me, unless you are living inside of the M25, then prices do tend to shoot up...Otherwise around 拢35 GBP is okay to pay. The best type of nails - make sure that the beautician or nail specialist has experience, and that their own nails are nice, never ever go for your nails doing if the beautician has appalling nails themselves! And don't be pushed about, tell them exactly what you want, the shape and colour! Acrylic I find are better than gel nails!
Don't even think of paying that acrylic nails normally cost around 30 pound, last year i qualified in nail extensions so i know it don't cost that.
if your nails are really short i would say get natural nails tips (not white tips) as these need blended onto your natural nail plate which makes them that little bit stronger acrylic is just the solution that is placed over the tip and your nail plate the
this is done twice the solution (acrylic) sets and there is you new nails they are then filed and blended into shape and to your desired lenght it should all take around an hour, if your not used to having nails i would defiantly advise you to go short as they are a bit strange at first.
The only thing is with acrylic nail extensions i found that they look absolutely fantastic, but when you come to take them off your own nail underneath is ruined and they take ages to get back to normal.
Apart from acrylic there are a handful of different types you can get, there are gel, silk, fibre glass and back scratches i would just go to your local salon and ask.
All prices vary but acrylic are the more dear ones.

I would try and let them grow naturally, as when you glue or stick anything onto your natural nail it tends to ruin them. If you have short nails, try a bold colour , but don't forget to put a base coat on to stop your colour staining your nails.

Yes, it's long lasting but you will have to go back every 2 weeks to get the ';gap'; filled. which can be pretty high maintenance and when you get it removed, your nails will become very weak after that causing it to peel and break off... Which is a total nightmare..
Well, short nail is very trendy at the moment... Play with brighter color.. I highly recommend Red color, like Chili Red...
I've just recently cut off all my long nail and have been using Red...Pink.. Black and they looks great!

I had acrylics done for a holiday a couple of years agao and it was the worst beauty mistake I ever made as they completely and utterly ruined my nails. It weakenend them beyond belief and it was almost two years before they came back to normal (and I still have a split in one of the nails that was never there before).
So now instead I use Solar Oil on my nails every night, and and shape and buff them once a week - the buffer is brillaint for providing natural shine, and now they really are 'as hard as nails' as it were. It takes patience but it's really worth it, and look so much better.
I do have to say though in fairness that I think that it was the process with which my nails were put on and removed - they used drills and I think that played in part in damaging my nails so it's really worth making sure that if you do get them done that they do not use drills - the best manicurists only use proper files.

I use a tanning bed. So what? I also tan in the sun...the difference is one way I pay for skin cancer, the other way I get it for free.
I'd get boob implants in a heartbeat if I had the money (but I need a lift and fill). Who cares if others like them or not? If they don't, then they shouldn't have it done. I'd like to have slightly larger breasts that face forward (not at my toes) and I see no reason not have those if it's possible.
Fake eyelashes are kinda 1960s, but if that's what a gal likes, then it harms no one. Hair extensions are harmless also...if you can't grow long hair on your own (I can't...not much past my shoulders) but want long hair, why not buy some and wear it whenever you want? How amazing and wonderful that we have all these options! 鈽?br>
What's really kewl is if we aren't content with our appearance, we can make oh so many changes (with enough money). It's really great to have options, even if we don't take advantage of them.
Bottom line is that what's inside is so much more important than the wrapping...why not have the kind of wrapping you desire?

Collagen lips, I hear, hurt like hell to be injected and last only 6 or so months. Worst part is you may just look like you have a fat lip.
Silicone breasts, I think bankrupted the company that put them out originally. Saline bags are the choice, last time I looked. Granted, the market for fake boobies may have changed since then.
Hair extensions, we guys can pretty well tell where the real hair ends and the wool begins. Not attractive unless you've done chemo and are bald. Even less attractive if during the heat of the moment the hair piece falls off the woman. Worse still, if a hair piece falls off the man onto the woman. But that's life and another story and another subject.

If you aren't willing to keep up with the nails, do a simple manicure, paint job and hand lotion. Men like that more than possible demonic claws that could sever their neither regions at any given moment. Black widow spiders come to mind.

My husband always used to say he couldn't believe Pamela Anderson was so popular, and wanted to know how she kept from melting in the sun. My favorite T-shirt is: ALL NATURAL, BABY!! I am who I am and even though I've got all kinds of room for improvement....I'm okay with who I am and fake just isn't for me. Firstly, women have these treatments on the 'outside' to make them feel good on the 'inside'. Although they are changing their external appearance, it's only because they want to feel more confident and able to face this harsh world with their heads held high.
I can also attest that as far as cosmetic surgery is concerned, when it's carried out properly, it can look very natural. I've worked in a PS clinic and also had lip fillers and I've never been accused of having boxer's lips and I don't believe a subtle enhancement here and there makes me 'tacky' or 'fake'.
What about those who spend their money on expensive holidays, luxury homes and fast cars...is that not as superficial? And it is not as though women beautifying themselves is anything new.

The media dictates so much about society that women *in some cases but not all* feel pressured to have to fit that ridiculous extreme. It's sad I know, but even I find it hard to feel truly beautiful when you're bombarded with air-brushed pictures of super models.

I read somewhere that in general (note: not always), men perceive other men to have a sense of humor if they are good at making jokes, telling funny stories, etc. Men perceive women to have a sense of humor if they laugh at the funny things they hear or see. We may not all be geniuses, but if a faked-up woman thinks her man is funny, he is likely to feel he's hit the jackpot -- a beauty with a sense of humor.
Those particular men are immature and care only about the physical pleasures they can have with the woman,including others' gawking at her.

The best thing to do is use the tiniest ball of white product. before you apply it to the nail, hold it against a piece of kitchen roll to absorb some of the liquid and make it firmer, easier to use and a crisper whitethen place it at the centre of the smile line. work it out to one side, pushing towards the free edge, then while your product is till wet, use the edge of your brush to straighten the smile line. Once one side is perfect, move onto the other, you'll find it easier to manage. when the smile line is ok you can put more white in. It takes a little time to master so don't get disheartened if it doesn't come easily straight away.Nail extensions?

Well......it's really easy to get your nails done, and just ask for a FULL SET. It's the fake extensions, and ask for them kinda thin, since I don't think you;re exactly used to nails lol.
Gel is a type of acrylic nail - the difference is that the powder is crystal clear, stronger, lasts way longer, and shinier. Regular acrylic is cloudier and feels heavier. Normally, I would recommend gels, but since you want them off in a few days, get the acrylics. Plus, acryls. are easier to take off.
To take them off, just soak your nails in pure ACETONE nail polish remover. Should take about 30-60 minutes; the nails turn to jelly which you can just scrape or buff off with a nail file.

Nail polish in my eyes after eyelash extensions...?
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem...last summer I had eyelash extensions applied and the tech got what smelled like nail polish remover (which I later found out actually was nail polish remover!) in my eyes. It obviously stung and she really had issues applying the lashes to my left eye in particular. It's not until now that I'm making a connection between that experience and the problems I've been having with my eyes. I've been to the opthamologist for the last few months with an excruciating pain in my eyes, usually at night when I'm sleeping, it will wake me up and it feels like someone has ripped my eye open and it will sting and water profusely. The dr asked if I had an eye injury which I hadn't and couldn't explain why I have what looks like corneal erosion mostly concentrated in my left eye. After talking to a few estheticians, I'm finding out that indeed the nail polish remover would have caused the erosion of my eye. Unfortunately, the only solution is laser eye surgery which I am not eligible for because my vision is fine, if I were to have the surgery it would actually impair my vision!Nail polish in my eyes after eyelash extensions...?
