Well some can reealy ruin them and some can't. The ones that are really bad are the ones where to get them off you have to soak your fingers in acetone for like an hour (been there and done that, don't do it it is HORRIBLE!!) The other way to get them off is to either pull them off (ow!) or to just let them fall off. All of these ways won't necessarily ruin your nails but will probably make them a lot thinner. Ask the ppl at the salon for more info though :) good LuCk xCan nail extensions damage my natural nails? HELP!!!?
I love getting fake nails - both acrylic and gels. However, if you have had them for quite a while once you remove them (do this in a salon not at home because it becomes a messy nightmare) your nails will be as thin and malleable as paper. You just have to cut your nails short and wait for them to grow out for a cycle of 2 months and you will regain your natural nails. The advantage of these fake nails are they don't chip much over 2 weeks, they look good and are little maintenancee during the 2 weeks. The disadvantages are the cost and time you need to dedicate to getting your nails done every 2-3 weeks.

With this in mind you could always just try the nails for 2 weeks and the have the removed - your nails will be a bit damaged but not too drastic (you will probably have to cut them right down however). Good luck!
Getting a full set of nails in my opinion does help your nails, but the only thing that can damage really is the machine they use to file the nails.. One was to get less damage to the nail bed is by asking for hand filling instead of the machine buffer, but I will warn that it will take longer, cost more, and might not be available at many places, but all nail techs should know how, because they learn how at the beaty school. I am a certified nail tech, but not liscenced.. if you have any questions feel free to messag me. I hope that helped..
Hello there,

Well if this is your first time doing your nails it might hurt just a little bit in the end. What they do first is cut your nails and then they use a machine that has a shape of a pencil and it takes off the top layer of your nail, it might burn. I used to to my nails all the time but my nail started getting really weak. Whenever I will put my hands in hot water my nails will hurt and when your nail starts to grow it hurts when you take them off of course! When your nails get damaged a new nail will be growing so your going to be ok. I suggest doing them every once in a while, plus you will save money.
If you're talking about acrylic nails, then they most certainly can damage your nails but more so just weaken them. Eventually they will mend themselves and revert to the way they were so it's not a major problem if you aren't consistantly doing so for an extended period of time.
don't do it - that trend is so 5 yrs ago. it ruins your nails and makes them weak.

short nails with clear or bright polish is what you should go for - get a nice manicure instead - it's cheaper and easier to maintain.
ABSOLUTELY. Your nails will never be the same. If you are talking about acrylics, they are by far the worst in my opinion. I regret it. My nails are now brittle and hypersensitive.
