Nail Extensions?

I am thinking about getting my nails done. I have had plenty of manicures in the past, but never had acrylic nails. If anyone has had any experience with either acrylic or silk wrap nail please let me know if you would reccomend it. Why and why not. Money is not an issue. I just want my nails to look nice, and right now, they are just not growing our to a length that is desireable to me naturally.Nail Extensions?
If you decide to go ahead, chose a salon/bar that practices good hygiene %26amp; cares for the natural nail as well.

Avoid places that use electric files (drills) as these are way too harsh for the natural nail plate. The tech should use a very gentle (180 grit or higher) file to remove the natural shine from the nail plate, not etch it with a rough file (like sandpaper!!)

Pink and whites, when applied properly should be done with white acrylic powder to the free edge (which may be elongated by the use of a tip or sculpting form) and then a clear pink onto the nail bed.

Some, less experienced tech may use a white plastic tip instead of white acrylic, that's ok, but you have to have them removed when they grow out. It's best to have them rebalanced which means that the white acrylic is gently filed down and new white is applied higher up the nail to cover the natural nail 'smile line' and pink is re-applied to the nail bed.

Chose a salon that uses a reputable brand, that you can see on the pots on the nail desk.

If you chose a salon/bar that uses products from company's such as 'Creative Nail Design', EzFlow', 'NSI', then you should be fine.

Acrylic nails DO NOT DAMAGE nails - it the unskilled tech that damages by over filing with hand files which are too abrasive or use of drills. Picking off or biting off the acrylic also does sever damage by thinning the nail plate as a layer of nail comes away with the bitten/picked off enhancement.

I'm a professional nail tech in the UK.Nail Extensions?
my mom has pink and whites. she likes them but you have to get them done a lot. your nails are supposed to get weak but i am not completely sure on that. i would get them if i had the money. so why not. if you don't like them go get them taken off
I have been getting acrylic on my nails for over 6 years now and I loke them! They look so clean and sexy.... Just make sure you get fills when you are suppose and do not let them lift. If your nails are lifting and you get water under them you could get fungus from it!!! Also, make sure if the place you go offers it, use your own files, drill, ect. My nail salon has individual boxes for everyone with our own supplies in it that they offer.
ooh! I love getting my nails done! What looks amazing and is known to be the best method, is the GEL nails. Not acrylics, the gel is better. The pink technique is when they do a french manicure and it kind of leaves a pink tint. That is, they do the tips the white color, and the base color used is pinkish. I personally think the white looks nicest. A nice french manicure, with a clear or opaque coat. Go for it! You'll love it.. just make sure they aren't too long.
ok well there is 2 sides to pick. i am 15 and hav had my nails done with acrylic nails. i loved them, it took some time to get used to thow:

doing dishes ( watery feel)

opening soda

typing

getting food out of the face nail with a toothpick.

etc.

all of those things u will get used to... but..

after about 2 weeks, they started to get dirty and out of shape, and then u see ur real name by the cuticle growing out. wich means in about 2 months they will come off, or more.

see i liked them but i either want them perfect looking,or off.

they dont hurt wen u get them off, by urself. at first it a quick hurt snap butthats it. but when they come off, they leave white marks, and kinda ratty, and trashy looking. and as thin as paper literally. even for adults. i got mine off 3 months ago, and they still dont look the best.

but if u keep getting fils and cleaning them they wont look bad, but ur nail will b damaged.

goodluck, and hope u find a good solution,

oh and make sure the place u go to get them done is starile, and clean.
it makes your nails look good and it makes your nails grow faster
I got gel nails for a wedding once and they wrecked my nails. After I got them off my original nails fell off! It was gross! Now if I do get fake nails I get those glue on ones that you buy in the drugstore! Although gel nails last for much longer, there's no point in destroying your nails!
ive been getting my nails done for years!! acrylic is good for short nails. if you have your own nails already and want them stronger, then silk wraps are for you. if not, if you just wanna grow your own nails, then you can do acrylic white tips with CLEAR powder instead of pink, it looks very natural because the color of your natural nail bed comes thru instead of the pink powder. square shape, nice and short will look like the perfect manicure!! and instead of having them put a top clear coat thats just gonna yellow your nails, have them buff them out with a lil pink polishing cream and the buffer, you will have a mirror finish!! and dont be afraid to tell your nail tech how you do or dont like what they are doing. if you see them shaping your nail or whatever in a way you dont like, speak up, or else they will never know what you like
i used to have mine done all the time...good part is they look nice bad part is the longer you have them on...the weaker your nails become..it is very painful after you take them off to let your real nails grow out....
the thing about acrylics is that they leave you nails really thin when you ge them off. some advice is you do get them then get them shorter than you think youll want because they grow out with your nails and get longer. they lok really good and stay looking good.
I used to get acrylics in grade school. But now I HAVE to have them all the time because my nails are paperthin. It destroys your nails. you can get them once or twice but if you want them you better plan on having them for a long time, or doing nail treatments to strengthen your nails after. I don't regret getting them, because I always have them now, so it doesn't matter to me. But now i get pink and white(not the colors, it's a new technique). It looks nicer and lasts longer.
acylics nails are the BEST, in fact thats pretty funny because i just got off the phone to schedule an appointment to get them right before i read this.

i think they look very classy.

it takes a while to get used to at first though.

they really look awesome, just try it :)
yes best
